Band Aid

It is essential for an artist or a band to present themselves in a professional manner. This page offers some useful resources and tips.

Technical rider

The purpose of a technical rider, often called a Tech rider, is to provide organisers and on-site staff with all the necessary details for your performance. This document ensures they understand your technical requirements and the space needed, so that upon arrival, everything is prepared and runs smoothly.

For most gigs in small venues, a detailed technical rider is generally not required. However, once you are asked to perform at a professional concert venue or festival, having one becomes essential. Therefore, it is advisable to have a technical rider that includes all key elements such as the stage plot, channel list or patch list.

Create your own website

Create a dedicated website for your band using a unique domain name. Having your own homepage makes it easier to share all the important information with concert organisers and venue owners, such as your technical rider, stage plot, channel list, photos, and videos.

It is most cost-effective to host your website yourself, for example, for less than €2 per month at https://www.hetzner.com/webhosting/ (based in Frankfurt/Main, Germany). Here you can also purchase a domain name for under €5 per year. These services also offer free and open-source content management systems such as WordPress, which is as easy to use as a simple text editor.

Additional tips:

  • Make sure your contact details are easy to find for bookings and inquiries.
  • Use high-quality images and videos to showcase your band’s style and performances.
  • Keep your website updated with your latest news, gigs, and media.
  • If you have a gig calendar and/or a news section, similar to a blog, you can share these updates on your social media channels. However, avoid doing the reverse. Direct visitors from your social media to your website’s homepage, rather than sending them from your homepage to your social media profiles.

Having a professional website helps you present your band confidently and makes organising gigs much smoother.

  • Logo echo.luMake sure to promote your event at least two months ahead on echo.lu, which offers several benefits:
    • Your concert will be automatically promoted across various online and offline media channels, such as woxx. Newspapers like Luxemburger Wort and Tageblatt select individual events from echo.lu for their weekend editions, but only those that feature a high-quality photo and complete copyright information.
    • If your concert is in Luxembourg City, it will also be featured on https://www.luxembourg-city.com/fr/agenda and included in City, a magazine distributed monthly to 130,000 households.

Additional tips:

  • Create eye-catching posters and flyers to share in your local community.
  • Create a mailing list of friends and fans and send them an invitation to each concert.
  • Encourage your band members and fans to share the event to boost awareness.
  • Use social media platforms to advertise your gigs with links to your homepage.

By planning ahead and promoting effectively, you’ll increase your chances of a successful concert.
